Relief Society Double-Whammy Activity

The Relief Society held a Double-Whammy Activity on Saturday. First we filled 72-hour kit backpacks for children in the Branch.

Working together to finish the project.

After we completed and cleaned up, we talked about “Make a Mix” cooking ideas and mixes. Sister Jackson made some chocolate milk mix to show how easy the mixes can be. Then everyone got to take some home. They also discussed menu planning and bulk cooking and crock pot cooking. We all learned much and enjoyed being together.

Sisters to the Mansfield Branch

We are excited to welcome Sister Black and Sister Williams to the Mansfield Branch. The Branch held a “Meet the Sisters” dinner to get acquainted.

Changes in our Mission District and Zone

At our last District Meeting we had a great lunch, thanks to Elder and Sister Bushman, who brought it for all of us. The Elders that have been in their area are leaving and being replaced by Sisters. We are getting sister missionaries in our branch and there are many other changes being made this transfer in our District and Zone.

As we arrived at our meeting there was much curiosity about what was in the back of the Zone Leaders truck.

Someone had put a snapping turtle in the back of their truck!

IMG_1057

He was greatly photographed as you can see and just sat there and smiled, as much as a turtle smiles. I’m sure it was because he loved being so close to such marvelous missionaries.

IMG_1058

After our meeting we checked on him again and he was there waiting.

IMG_1059

We will be losing these two Elders this transfer as they are putting Sisters in their area. We will miss these excellent missionaries.

Our new Towanda District. Lots of “new’s” for our District. We are now in the Towanda District, a new District, with a new District Leader with a new companion, and the Sisters are new to our branch. Elder and Sister Jackson are the only “old’s” in the District.

We went to lunch to celebrate!

Plenty of smiles.

Lots of good visiting and of course delicious food.

We enjoyed the Laurel Festival (named after the Pennsylvania state flower, the Kalmia latifolia, commonly called mountain-laurel) with the Mitchells. It was a fun time here in Wellsboro.

Once in a life time Mission meeting

We usually only get together as Districts and Zones. This month we had a Mission Meeting for the entire Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Mission, about 250 of us. We were privileged to spend the morning with 4 General Authorities; Elder David A. Bednar (Apostle), Elder Ronald A. Rasband (Senior President of the Seventy), Elder Kevin S. Hamilton (2nd Quorum of the Seventy) and Elder Robert L. Smith (Area authority for our Mission). It was an amazing meeting. We learned so much.

Here are some pictures taken before the meeting began.

An hour before the meeting started . . . we were all excited to be there.

It was wonderful to see all the Senior Couples serving in our mission.

After the meeting was over we gathered everyone for a Mission Picture with the General Authorities.

We had a miracle happen – all of our missionaries got to be together for the first and probably last time!!!! We were honored to have Elder Bednar come and visit with us for 3 hours on Saturday, June 8th. Elders Rasband, Smith and Hamilton were with him, but Elder Bednar took up most of the 3 hours teaching us. It was absolutely wonderful. What an overwhelming sight to see all of our missionaries in one place. It was a day we will all remember.

Wow! The Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Missionary WAVE!

The missionaries from our District and our Zone Leaders rode with us to the meeting. After their BIG lunch and Cinnamon Rolls (in the container with the red lid that Sister Jackson had made) we headed for home. In a very few minutes this was the scene behind the drivers seat.

Tilled with the Spirit and food and tired. We love these Elders.

We took a branch trip to the Palmyra Temple. Some of the newest members performed baptisms for their ancestors. After we took some of them to see some of the historic sites near the temple.
